The best foods for fast workout recovery?

I always feel drained and tired after working out. It doesn’t hit me right away. I usually feed great until the next morning. It is a struggle for me to workout two days in a row because of this. What are the best foods for fast workout recovery?

Obviously protein will help. Good options are eggs, lean chicken breast, and salmon. Fruits that help with inflammation and repair include blueberries, tart cherries, and bananas. Eating fast carbs (fast digesting ones like white bread, rice, etc.) are good to consume about 10 to 15 minutes after a work out.

Someone I know always praises baked potatoes. You top it with the right stuff and it works great. Do a baked with sour cream, butter, chia seeds, salt and a touch of cheese.

If you are working on building muscle and plan to later cut your weight, then bulking up on calories is good. You want to eat a variety of everything, don't worry too much about cutting out certain foods. Once you gain muscle, then you can cut down on your fat by focusing more on cardio and ridding your diet of carbs.

Some people swear by red meats for recover but you have to be careful if you are trying to lose weight. My brother spends a lot of time in the gym and one of his favorite foods to eat after working out is beef or deer jerky.
